A Sneak Peek on PlayStation 3

PlayStation 3 is the new console of Sony to answer to its competition, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Nintendo’s Wii. It is also considered to be the third generation of PlayStation.

PlayStation 3 will be released on the markets of Japan and US in the year 2006 while Australia and Europe will be able to get it in 2007. The reason for the delays in release in European and Australian regions is due to the lack of blue-ray drive diodes.

Sony publicized that their latest creation will be launched in two different versions. The first version has a 60 GB hard drive, a Wi-Fi capability, memory card readers, Blu-ray disc drive and USB ports. The lesser version has less capacity in terms of the hard drive, 20 GB to be exact, and has no Wi-Fi capabilities and memory card readers. However, the client can still choose to boost the hard drive and integrate memory card readers with the utilization of adapters. The Wi-Fi option, however, is none-fixable.

Having the Blu-ray disc drive, the user can also use the PS3 to watch movies as well as music and with a 54 GB data capacity, users won’t have to settle for anything less.

The compact hard disk accommodates the PS3′s system with the necessary storage space required for PS network applications, files sharing or downloads. The hard drive can also be used for gaming purposes to save game points.

In the United States, the expected pricing release of the 20-GB is $499 and $599 for the 60-GB. In Japan, the price lists about $430 for the 20-GB. Sony has chosen to set an open price for the Japanese retailers for the 60-GB model. Meanwhile, for the European release, the 20-GB and the 60-GB versions cost $550 ad $660, respectively. In Australian regions, the premium model will retail for $680 while the 20-GB will retail for $570.

The outer design of the PlayStation 3 is very classy with its appealing lines and curves. It is also incorporated with a greatly developed cooling system that manages the heat production of the power system of the gaming console. In addition, PlayStation 3 is surprisingly quiet despite its high power consumption.

The recent versions of PlayStation 3 came in white, black and silver but during the opening release, PS3s will only be available in black. Sony has utilized top quality materials to give its design an added touch of elegance. During the final showing of the PS3′s appearance, the outer part of the game console appeared to be glossy black and dark. PlayStation 3 mainly weighs 11 lbs. and its measurements are 12.8″ x 3.8″ x 10.8″.

The PS3, just like the other consoles, can sit horizontally or placed vertically on common AV racks. Users of the PS3 do not have to worry about unintentionally damaging their movie or game discs while changing the position of the console.

Nintendo Wii U doesn’t forget, it’s about the games

As E3 2011 came to a close, many were buzzing about all the new product and games. By far the biggest story of Nintendo’s E3 was the Wii U. (Heck, it may have been the biggest story of the entire show.) While the actual tech behind this new console and new controller were certainly the talk of the show, at the end of the day it still all comes down to the games.

Nintendo’s new console debut obviously topped most attendees list of must see’s, but that wasn’t all the Nintendo folks brought to E3. I’ve compiled a short list of the Nintendo highlights.

5) Fighting series fans were sent through the roof with announcements of Super Smash Bros. on 3DS and Wii U.

4) Third party games such as Call of Duty and Resident Evil have forced Nintendo to support these games to drive more gaming consumers to the Nintendo product.

Nintendo announced titles like Batman: Arkham City, Assassin’s Creed, Tekken and Ghost Recon will be supported on Wii U, as well as other that are currently in the works. Hopefully, enhancements will be made to these games and others. With these strategies, Nintendo seems to be shifting focus to making sure the Wii U is a good fit for all.

3) Chase Mii and Battle Mii are two new mini-games that showcased the powerful potential of the Wii U. These demos demonstrated the Wii U tablet to remarkable effect, giving each player a completely different experience. I’m in no doubt that Nintendo’s innovative controller has much more power than what was on display. Nintendo needs this to sell people on the Wii U.

2) Zelda: Now a HD experience. A must see. Do yourself a favor if you’re a fan and search youtube for a trailer.

1) The new Wii U game console. Nintendo did deliver. Nintendo’s 2nd gen Wii console is a system for all to enjoy, casual and serious gamers, alike.

Actually, the biggest buzz coming from gamers and the like, is centered around the controller.

Calling the new device a controller may not give full compliments to the capabilities and interactive possibilities it has to offer. It could be referred to as a sidekick to the new console. In some cases, it doubles as an extra controller and can work as a standalone gaming or entertainment device. This multi-functional controller contains a 6.2-inch touchscreen.

The hybrid device definitely kicks gaming up a notch, but it will be hard to predict how it is accepted into the gaming community until it’s potential can be formally introduced and fully tested on the gaming market.

No date was set for debut in stores nor was a price. But be expected to pay over $250 for Wii U
